The 0 Life Area is an area in Super Mario Star Road, only accessed when a player runs out of lives. The area is entirely grayscale, and has a path leading to a large hole. There are also a few Boos along the path. In order to exit this area, the player will need to go to the end of the path and jump into the large hole, which returns the player to the start screen. Getting killed has the same effect.
This area reappears in Super Mario 64: The Nostalgia Trip, where it's been reworked into an actual mini-level, redubbed the Game Over Realm. It serves as the Vanish Cap area for that hack, and contains a Blue ! Switch. It also contains two stars, a Red Coin Star and a Star that requires the Vanish Cap to get. Here, it's located in the lobby for, ironically, the Main City Area, a level from Super Mario 64: The Missing Stars.

Trivia[]
- There was apparently an image of this area in color. However, in the game proper, the entire area is in grayscale, except for objects such as Mario, coins, and Boos.
- While in this area, the HUD shows that the player has 3 lives and 0 Stars, regardless of how many stars had been collected before.
- This area is not in a new level ID, it is in the same area under the Creepy Cap Cave area. When you see the level (As Metal Cap) in an level editor such as Toad's Tool 64 or Quad64, you will see a big black box, inside of that is the 0 Life Area.
- The music in this area is Sadness And Happiness from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
