All Star Adventure is a major ROM hack created by jesusyoshi54. It's the fifth installment of the "Star Adventure" meme hack series. This hack is a collection of remastered levels from the past 4 Star Adventure games (Bloo, Chartreuse, Diamond, Summer SRM) including new redesigns, extra missions, custom ASM gimmicks and over 140 Stars.
Although this game is another filler of memes, it has an actual story that stands out from the other games. This also marks Dorrie's Starting debut as a recurring character in most scuttlebug_raiser hacks, as her company will assist to guide Mario throughout the game.
A new update (v2.0) was released as of late April 2019, featuring 3 optional game modes: Non-Stop, Super and Super Non-Stop, which consists of a different gameplay mechanic with or without handicaps such as being immune to fall damage, mid-air jumps or progressing continously in levels. In addition, a 8th Star is present in both main and bonus courses acting as a hidden secret Star as well as a new extra boss fight.
Plot[]
Mario is off to a journey to become an aspiring Dorrie and has to collect Stars from his past adventures to stop an evil Dorrie whose powers can destroy an almost extinct species of innocent Dorries. In other words: "dorrie".
Courses[]
Note all courses are relative to a recent hack. New courses are marked with an asterisk (*). The hidden black [!] box is described in the "Notes" list.
Course | Name | Stars | Notes | Origin |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Empty Field of Emptyness | 8 | Accessible via the picture of Nico Yazawa from "Love Live!". This course is the only one where Stars don't take Mario outside to the overworld. The black [!] box is under the chuckya platform. | Chartreuse |
2 | Goomba Skatepark | Accessible via the picture of Midna from "Zelda: Twilight Princess". The black [!] box is at the back end of the bowl. | Diamond | |
3 | Cartoon Sky Land | The black [!] box is placed under between the thunder cloud and sun before the path of "Blood and Thunder". | Clip Art Sky Land (Diamond) | |
4 | Silent Snowpeak | Accessible via the picture of Cirno from the "Touhou" series. The black [!] box is near the ledge past the switch's timed boxes on the path of "The Mountain's Summit". | Diamond | |
5 | Lush, Lush Canyon | The black [!] box is under the "Canyon Climb" slope at the Starting point. | Bloo | |
6 | Happy Humble Town | The black [!] box is inside the house with the turquoise colored floor. | House, House Canyon (Bloo) | |
7 | Coral Caverns | The black [!] box is under the cracked floor at the Starting point. | Beach, Beach Canyon (Bloo) | |
8 | Secret Paradise Oasis | Accessible from the closest building to the right in the third overworld. The black [!] box is behind the tallest pyramid. | Clearwater Oasis (Summer SRM) | |
9 | Juicy Jungle | Accessible on the roof of the building opposite to Arrowland. The black [!] box is behind the tree at the far-east end of the forest. | Summer SRM | |
10 | Burgerland | Accessible via the picture of Wendy Thomas, Wendy's fast food joint mascot. The black [!] box is under the right rainbow candy strip. | Diamond | |
11 | Dangerous Drift Deposits | The black [!] box is inside the "Crown Jewel" area. | Cliff, Cliff Canyon (Bloo) | |
12 | Arrowland | The black [!] box is at the left-most of the red-blue arrow switch section. | Summer SRM | |
13 | Risky Reset | Accessible via the left platform on the closest left buliding in the third overworld. This course plays identical like in Tick-Tock Reset: it resets the level automatically within 10 seconds and Mario respawns whenever he enters a warp pipe. To leave the course, the pipe is near the slope of the Starting point. | Tick-Tock Reset (Summer SRM) |
Secret Courses[]
Course | Name | Stars | Notes | Origin |
---|---|---|---|---|
Metal Cap | Cap Zone (*) | 1 | This area is where the Cap Switches reside; as well as the introduction of the Yellow Switch: breaking yellow [!] boxes activate numbered blocks in order to cover a path. Bowser's Anime World and Dorrie's Story Book are located in this area. The black [!] box is at the left side near a opening (requiring the Wing Cap). | Homage to Bowser's Minecraft Server (Diamond) |
Wing Cap | Dorrie's Story Book (*) | 3 | This area acts a meeting backdrop to talk to Dorries. The staircase takes to one of the trials: Wizard Dorrie. Also, the left door opens to a Star, the right door to the Black Switch (unlockable after beating Wizard Dorrie) and the middle door to an easter egg (unlockable after collecting 146 Stars). The black [!] box is above the bookshelf at the left of the staircase. | |
Vanish Cap | Super Snow Slides | 8 | Accessible via the right platform on the closest left buliding in the third overworld. This course plays identical like in Slippery Snow Slides: Mario slides faster than usual. The black [!] box is under one of the tall platforms by going east from the return pipe. | Slippery Snow Slides (Summer SRM) |
Slide | Dorrie Slide | 2 | Accessible via the picture of Steve Harvey. Finishing the slide under 12 seconds grants Mario a Star. The black [!] box is in front of the picture of a man. | Kachow Slide (Chartreuse) |
Aquarium | Land of the Other Entrances | 6 | Similar to its Chartreuse counterpart, this far more improved course is accessible from the Land of the Invisible Walls. In addition, a timer is triggered as a speedrunning homage to Upon the Hills from Summer SRM. This course does not have a black [!] box. | Chartreuse |
Rainbow Clouds | Land of the Invisible Walls | 2 | Accessible via the picture of Karen Kujo from "Kin-iro Mosaic". Similar to its Chartreuse counterpart, a warp marked by a number gives access to an area of the Land of the Other Entrances and red coins remain the only Star of the course. However, a scoreboard displays 1 and 0 to emphasise players to a speedrunning mini-game. Winning "Par" and "YIP" grants Mario a new color palette. The black [!] box is under Other Entrance #1. | |
Bowser 1 | Bowser in the Anime World | 1 | King Bob-omb's lair. The black [!] box is above one of the wallkick meshes. | |
Bowser 2 | Bowser's Obstacle Course | 2 | Big Boo's lair. The black [!] box is on the side of the staircase before the planetoids. | Bowser in the Canyon (Bloo) |
Bowser 3 | Bowser's Geodesic Nightmare | 8 | Bowser's lair. Compared to its Summer SRM counterpart, all red coins are possible to collect thanks to improvements and warps. However, engaging in the final battle requires 75 Stars. The black [!] box is at the very bottom of the course. | Bowser's Crystal Catastrophy (Summer SRM) |
Miscellaneous[]
Course | Stars | Notes | Origin |
---|---|---|---|
Overworld 1 | 3 | Red coins are scattered in the area. A Toad inside the garbage dumpster will give Mario a Star. Another Toad at the Start of the slide will also give Mario a Star. | Chartreuse + Diamond |
Overworld 2 | 2 | This area unlocks at 20 Stars. MIPS appears twice at the empty corner. | Bloo |
Overworld 3 (*) | A Toad behind the Arrowland signboard will give Mario a Star. The black [!] box is on top of the Geodesic Nightmare building. | ||
End of the Adventure (*) | This area acts as the ending. This is where Mario spawns after defeating a boss, as a statue will appear in the house. Sleeping on the bed by pressing the L button will Start the credits. However, later in the game, upon defeating Wizard Dorrie, ground pounding all 4 boss statues will erect a portal from the house rooftop, meaning that the extra final trial is unlocked. | ||
Wizard Dorrie (*) | 1 | The special trial only unlockable at 122 Stars. Defeating Wizard Dorrie by ground pounding his back 3 times will unlock the door to the Black Switch. | |
Magna Dorrie (*) | The extra final trial from the v2.0 update and the most difficult challenge of the game. You must escape Magna Dorrie while collecting all 120 red coins in a run through past levels without dying. |
