This article is for hacks that have previously been planned for release (and had word spread about them), but have had development stopped on them without a playable version being released.
King Boo's Seven Towers[]

This hack was being created by Biobak64 up until at least 2017, when the creator released a trailer on their YouTube channel. The description for the trailer said the following:
Here's a quick teaser of a hack I'm making.
It's near completion but I still have some things to change:Fix the title screen (goddamn kaze's importer)
I also need an ASM Patch but I can't code
Translate the game to FrenchIf anyone volunteers to help, please send me a discord message!
Since then, there does not seem to have been any further updates on this project, so it can be assumed that this project has been cancelled.
Super Event Solaris[]

This hack was being created by Quills as an unofficial sequel to Super Event Horizon. It was set to be released in early 2022, and contained 35 Stars, nine courses, and one secret course, with linear-style gameplay. It was originally created for scuttlebug_raiser's 3rd Hacking Competition, but ultimately not submitted for judging.
This hack used assets from Super Event Horizon, and introduced story elements from a film called Solaris.
The creator of this hack released a trailer on his YouTube channel advertising this hack, which contained footage showcasing the levels in Sketchup's[1] model editor. The creator of Super Event Horizon, SheeshFr, left a comment on the trailer expressing excitement over playing Super Event Solaris.
Since then, Quills has been on a haitus from the SM64 ROM hacking community, and, for undisclosed reasons, his RHDC account has been banned. For these reasons, it has been assumed that this project will no longer be completed.
Project Dead Mushroom[]
Project Dead Mushroom Teaser Trailer
This was a creepypasta-themed hack being created by ProfessorCreepyPasta, advertised and presumably set to be released in 2013.
The creator, who is currently (as of Dec 2024) still active on YouTube, also created several other videos relating to this project:
This project also had its own website, hosted by weebly. As no known playable version exists for download, it can be assumed that this project is no longer being worked on.
Super Mario 64: The Cobalt Stars[]
This was a major hack being created by Scepter. It was planned to have 15 main courses, 4 side courses and 140 Stars to collect. Only one stage known to have been completed, and it was expected to fully release somewhere in mid to late 2022. A demo was planned to be published during January - February of 2022, but has yet to be published.
The creator of this hack published some information about this hack to its page on this wiki[2], which shows some insight into what this hack was going to contain.
The two tables below are what the creator published about their project. The only changes made are to the table classes and caption, for formatting purposes.
