Casino Bingo Slide is a ROM hack created by aglab2 for the Slide Level Competition, in which it placed 1st.

An excellent slide hack containing custom code, songs, levels and all around interesting game-play. Slightly difficult, beginners may be barred from entry. Made for SimpleFlips Competition #2: Slide Hacks.

This hack contains three slide courses, with the second one being located in the overworld area. There is a significant amount of custom code that changes some important aspects of the game.

Changes[]

Fall damage has been disabled, as has Mario's lives counter, Star counter, and coin counter. The HP and camera settings icons will no longer appear on the HUD, either, regardless of any changes to them.

The function of the pause menu has been altered. Upon pausing, the game will begin a countdown from ten seconds while showing the following message:

DETENTION FOR YOU
WHEN WILL YOU LEARN

After the ten second timer has reached zero, the game will automatically unpause itself. This mechanic may have been implemented to prevent players from pause-buffering, or simply to annoy them.

Gameplay[]

To reach the first slide, Mario needs to wallkick through a horizontal section with walls that say "ICECUBE", jump down past a spinning red dice, than stand on the warp pad next to the Bob-omb Buddy. Falling off of this slide or succesfully reaching the end will send Mario back to the warp pad.

For this slide, Mario can collect chips numbered 1 - 9 on the way down. Depending on which chips he collects, he may score a bingo, which is required to access the second slide. The HUD displays which numbers have been collected, and whether or not a bingo has been scored. The score of numbers collected is retained when Mario is sent back to the warp pad (regardless of whether or not he falls off the course or reaches the end). Upon re-entering the first slide via the warp pad, the score is reset.

In order to score a bingo, Mario needs to collect at least three of the nine chips on the slide. The following combinations will score a bingo:

Vertical

1 ⋆ 4 ⋆ 7

2 ⋆ 5 ⋆ 8

3 ⋆ 6 ⋆ 9
Horizontal

1 ⋆ 2 ⋆ 3

4 ⋆ 5 ⋆ 6

7 ⋆ 8 ⋆ 9
Diagonal

1 ⋆ 5 ⋆ 9

3 ⋆ 5 ⋆ 7

Scoring a bingo will result in the red dice near the slide's warp point no longer spinning, and remaining in an upright static position. This allows Mario to wallkick up between the wall and the dice and platform back to the start.

For each numbered chip Mario collects, one of the platforms behind the starting point in the first area will become solid, with each number corresponding to a specific platform. There's no specific chips or amount of chips Mario needs to obtain to ascend the platforms, but the more he collects, the easier it is to reach the top.

At the top of the chips behind the starting area is the beginning of the second slide. This slide is an enclosed slide with no jumps, and at its end is the warp that will send Mario to the start of the third and final slide.

To complete the final slide, Mario needs to reach the end within a certain time frame- approximately 33 seconds   [citation needed - unsourced statement] , upon which a Star will spawn at the end of the slide.

If Mario reaches the end of the slide without having spawned the Star, he has no choice but to jump down into the void, as the pause menu does not provide an option to exit the course. After collecting the Star, the player will be sent straight to the endscreen.
