Cube 64 is a short ROM hack created by Coolingcake.
Gameplay[]
Fall damage has been disabled for this hack, and Stars do not initiate warps. Each area occupies a main course area ID, but the pause menu will only display the overworld's pause menu, thus removing the option to exit any of the courses. All music used in this hack is from the original Super Mario 64 soundtrack.
Areas[]
The first level functions as a hub area. It contains a cannon (locked until the Bob-omb Buddy is located), a 3 Star door, and a warp hole round the back of the house, which is a short distance away from Mario's starting point.
The second level is accessed by entering the warp hole round the back of the house in the first area. Inside is a room inside is comprised of white platforms over a black floor, which has a thin layer of poison gas on it. There are some Boo's and a 1 Star door; after defeating all of the Boo's, a Big Boo will spawn on the platform Mario started on. Collecting the Big Boo's Star will not initiate a warp, and the player can use the Star to open the 1 Star door, and enter the warp hole in the room beyond.
In the third level, there is a signpost in front of Mario which states:
Turn around like a baby or walk the mile like a chad. (There is a warp to the end behind you)
As it states, this level is comprised of one long path with a Star at the end; there are no penalties for using the warp shortcut to reach the end. After collecting the Star, Mario will trigger a fading warp and be sent to the next level.
The fourth level is visually similar to the arena in Bowser in the Dark World. Bowser is present but in a static state, and will not resume his expected behaviour until the player changes his state by grabbing his tail. Also present are four Giant Goomba's, and four bombs on separate platforms nearby. Upon collecting the "key" Mario will receive a Star for his troubles, but no warp will be initiated. To progress with the game, the player needs to return to the first area by dying, and enter the 3 Star door for the house.
Entering the 3 Star door in the first area will warp Mario to an indoor area with a huge TV and a Bob-omb Buddy on the sofa. The Bob-omb Buddy opens the cannon in the first area for the player, and the TV shows an image of the first area with an arrow indicating "Stand here". This is giving player a hint on how to reach course 4 (see C1 notes).
