DOOMIO is a ROM hack created by KeyBlader for the Mario Jams Disaster Competition, in which it placed 9th.
This hack is based on the DOOM videogame franchise, in which the protaganist is tasked with defeating hordes of enemies, usually with the use of various guns.
As explained by. Bob-omb Buddy, many Toad's have been zombified (a colloquial term meaning to turn into a zombie) by pinkeye. The Buddy explains that they have managed to contain the hoard, but they need Mario's help in "getting them", which is a nicer way of phrasing "murder a crowd of civilians so we don't have to bother curing their illness".
Gameplay[]
Mario has been equipped with a weapon called "The Trusty Bomb-om-47". This weapon is used by pressng the B button; this will launch a bob-omb out the end at significant speed. It cannot harm Mario, and can only fire when he's standing on the ground.
All of the infected Toads only have 1 HP, but they can also be squashed by Mario as well as exploded (because they are retextured Goomba's). Each time Mario kills one, a coin is automatically added to the coin counter. After killing 50 enemies, a coin Star will spawn. There are at least 57 enemies in the level; once the Star has been spawned, Mario will start to gain back 1 HP for each enemy he kills. As there are no coins in the level and the enemies don't drop coins, this is the only way to recover HP... unless you count dying and respawning.
This hack has one course occupying the C1 area ID; it is called We're all going to die, and the Act being played on is Kill da hoe. To the left of Mario's starting is a checkered platform with a Bob-omb Buddy standing next to it, who explains that the time to beat is 1 minute 18 seconds. Walking over the checkered platform will begin the timer.
Fall damage has been disabled for this hack, and the pause menu does not provide the option to exit course. If Mario dies, he will be respawned at the starting point for course 1 without any progress lost.
