Super Mario 64 Hacks Wiki

Dice Fortress Redone is a minihack made by Omega Merk. This hack is a remake of the first course from Super Mario 74, Dice-Fortress.

Overview[]

This hack contains one main course called Dice-Fortress Redone, and a hub area containing a signpost from the hack creator, the Wing Cap Switch, and the warp pipe leading to course 1.

There are seven Stars plus a red coin Star replacing the 100 coin Star, totalling eight Stars. This hack is one of the few to contain a seventh Act, as it is nearly always restricted to six Acts per main course.

More recent versions of Super Mario 74 have fall damage disabled, however, fall damage is still in effect for this hack. The 100 coin Star has been disabled, despite the prevalance of coins in this course (at least 105).

Stars[]

Act 1: The King Atop The Fortress[]

Wallkick up to the top of the fortress- King Bob-omb is here waiting for a fight with Mario. This fight is unchanged from vanilla SM64.

Act 2: Star Of The Hill[]

This Star is in the same location as it was in the original Dice-Fortress (in a ! box on top of the tallest grassy pillar).

Act 3: The Towers Garden[]

Use the Wing Cap on the pillars leading up to Star 2 to fly over to the Star inside the very tall stone pillar, which is near Mario's starting point.

Act 4: Secret Of The Rocks[]

In the leafy foliage around the rocky pillars (where Star 2 is located), there are three small rocks hidden under the leaves, and a further two rocks not hidden under the leaves. Each one has a Secret hidden on top of it- discover all five to spawn the Star on top of the lowest pillar.

Act 5: The Floating Island[]

Use the Wing Cap on the pillars leading up to Star 2 to fly over to the floating island at the opposite end of the course. The Star is inside a ! box.

Act 6: Hidden In A Cage[]

Accesse the sub-area by entering the dark entrance round the back of the fortress. Once in there, platform your way over to the alcove at the opposite end of the room, then exit through it to find yourself at the Star.

Act 7: A Hidden Ledge[]

Wallkick up to the top of the fortress, then carefully drop down to the ledge on the side facing the pillars (you've likely already seen this Star from afar while playing through this course). The Star is inside this small alcove.

Red Coin Star[]

  • Inside the crate in the mud, near the wallkicking section
  • Inside the cave opposite the entrance
  • Inside the underwater tunnel connecting the two ponds
  • On the wooden platform in front of the caged Star
  • At the top of the wallkicking section
  • On the ground behind the pillar with Star 2 on top of it
  • In an alcove round the back of the fortress, above the arch

The Star will spawn near the two ponds. Collecting this Star will not warp Mario out of the level.

Trivia[]

  • After defeating King Bob-omb, his son can be found in his place in later Acts, looking for his father.
  • The wooden signpost near Mario's starting point has been transformed into a Bob-omb Buddy, courtesy of Kamek.
  • If Mario stands in the dark alcove on the floating island where the waterfall originates from, he can collect a 1UP and see an easter egg that temporarily displays a message on screen- "subscribe".
