Super Mario 76: Nightmare Edition is a harder version of Super Mario 76: Strange Adventure, made by NormalX71. It has 124 stars and is widely considered to be the "quintessential example of how not to make an extreme hack".
At the time of release the creator claimed it was the hardest hack ever created, but this claim has been obsoleted by the release of Super Mario 64: The Black Virus in early 2020 by NormalX71.
This hack is harshly criticized for uncreative/unfair/repetitive gameplay with quicksand ledgegrab spam.
It stands out for having levels with an excessive amount of red coins. They are often placed very close to each other to inflate the coin count.
ISC is 124 stars (100%). After months of having only the vanilla camera, NormalX71 released an official patch that added old parallel lakitu cam, conveniently during his own illegitimate playthrough of the game.
