Infested Forgotten Fortress is the 2nd course in Plutonium Mario 64. This level is somewhat reminiscent of Whomp's Fortress from vanilla Super Mario 64.
Acts[]
Act 1: Balance On The Board[]
Head up the brick stairs in front of Mario's starting point, and follow them round past the two Thwomps. Jump up to the left of the signpost, pass the Whomp, and walk along the narrow wooden platform at the end of this path. Then, either by waiting for the rotating platform to spin around for Mario or by longjumping, cross the rotating platform and grab the Star.
Act 2: Scale The Walls[]
Follow the same path as before past the two Thwomps until you reach the spot where the signpost used to be. Ascend the new platforms here until you reach the level with a Thwomp to the right. Take the Thwomp's right path and jump along the fortress's walls until you reach the Star- watch out for falling wall sections here!
Act 3: Climb The Central Towers[]
Platform up the level in a similar path to previous Acts, but where Mario turned down the right path, turn down the left path instead. This one will take Mario across a bridge leading to the central tower in the level. Follow this path as it travels up the tower; sideflips are your friend here. The Star is at the top of this tower.
Act 4: Red Coins In The Garden[]
The locations of the red coins are as follows:
- In the bed of vines left of Mario's starting position.
- In the bed of vines right of Mario's starting position.
- Across the wooden bridge left of Mario's starting point.
- On the floating platform in the pool of water near the bottom of the level.
- Past a Whomp on a platform sticking out, right of Mario's starting point.
- Past the pool of water near the bottom of the level, on a higher step.
- Past the pool of water near the bottom of the level, halfway up a slope.
- Past the pool of water near the bottom of the level, in a bed of vines.
The Star will spawn past the pool of water near the bottom of the level.
Act 5: Beneath The Fortress[]
Head over past the pool of water near the bottom of the level, and jump down to the area left of the slope. Down here, wallkick between the walls to steadily make your way over to the ledge on the other side, where the Star is.
Act 6: Drain The Bath Tub[]
This Star requires the Vanish Cap. Head over past the pool of water near the bottom of the level, and jump down to the area left of the slope. Once down here, walk down the side of the staircase and activate the diamond water-level switch down below- this will drain the water from the nearby pool. Head back up and grab the Vanish Cap out of the box at the pool's bottom, then run down the path to the right of Mario's starting point. Use the Vanish Cap to pass through the mesh wall and break the yellow ! box, inside of which is the Star.
