Mario in the Multiverse is a major ROM hack created by Rovertronic with his collaboration team on December, 2024 with the total of 123 stars, 16 abilities, 16 paintings and 15 courses.

Plot[]
The game starts with Mario coming to Princess Peach's birthday party. One of the party's guests, Professor E. Gadd, reveals his gift for Peach: "The Multiverse Machine". It is capable of travelling to other dimensions and alternate realities. The party gets interrupted by the sudden appearance of Bowser, who immediately confesses his love for Peach.
Predictably, Bowser's advances are rejected, and in response, he sets himself the goal of finding an alternate universe where Peach would love him. He sets the machine on fire with his fire breath which leads to its malfunctioning and other universes colliding.
Mario wakes up in the Kirby universe, where he gains his first ability, and finds the rainbow pipe to the hack's main hub, Metaxy Isles.
After his interdimensional journey for Stars, Mario helps E. Gadd to fix the machine to get to the Centrum Omnium and meet the Atreus, the deity capable of creating new universes. It provides an opportunity to use any wish of Mario's choosing, before Bowser blocks the way with the desire of destroying every dimension with the Atreus' power after finding out that Peaches in other universes are all the same. Atreus decides to arrange a duel between them to determine the winner, and who will get their wish fulfilled.
Mario defeats Bowser and goes throught Atreus' eye, which leads him back to the alternate birthday party where E. Gadd invents "The Gravity Machine" and Bowser stays at his castle instead.
Gameplay Changes[]
- Removed lives counter, now Mario gets a 5 coin penalty for each death.
- Added separate oxygen indicator for underwater swimming.
- Added checkpoints. Mario can activate one checkpoint by touching it and get teleported to the active one upon death.
- There can only be one active checkpoint per level.
