Millenium Star is a short ROM hack created by aextasy (AKA goldirehead798), with 7 stars and one course.
C1: Way to the M-Star[]
To find the Bob-omb Buddy that opens the cannon, jump up to the clouds to the left of Mario's starting point. Use the bumber on the second cloud to reach the higher areas, then platform across the moving/rotating platforms, and jump to the cloud platform at the end of a rainbow. The Bob-omb Buddy is here.
There is a two-way fading warp connecting the island with the cannon to the Star shaped island. The warp on the Star island is at the tip of one of the Star's points, and the cannon warp is at the corner of its own island. This will be very useful for the red coin and 100 coin missions.
Act 1: Five Stars And The Isle[]
This is a 5 Secrets mission. To reach the Secrets, head up the rainbow path near Mario's starting point, and jump over to the green gliders. Midway on the second slider, jump up to the moving platform, and head up to the rainbow road ahead. Each of the Secrets is on one of the small colourful Stars placed alongside the rainbow road; these ones are visually distinct from most of the other Star-shaped objects in the course because they are not hollow and can be stood on.
Act 2: The Star Under The Isle[]
Use the cannon or the fading warp to reach the Star-shaped island, then travel down the rainbow road that spirals down around the island- the Star is underneath the island on a small platform. Be aware of the five flame-spitters on top of the island; they have been retextured to look like flowers.
Act 3: It Smells Like Wooden Star[]
Head over to the left from Mario's starting point and jump onto the clouds. Use the bumber to bounce up to the higher cloud at the end of a rainbow and head right. Run past the Piranha Plants and climb the tree nearest to the next island up, and use the tree to reach it.
Once up to the wooden structure, run across the shrinking platforms to the other side, and use the note block to jump up to the next level. Run over to the other side again, and stand on the red-blue panels to push the crate closer to the last level up. Once up there, the Star is yours for the taking.
Act 4: A Unconnected Star[]
Run to the island dead ahead of Mario's starting point, and activate the timed switch here. Then, run up the wooden bridge and jump up to the island with the Chuckya. The crates spawned by the timed switch are on the left, so quickly triple-jump up them to reach the next island.
Act 5: Platforms Around The Star Road[]
This Star requires Mario to step on all of the blue ? panels around the level to switch them to yellow. The switch panel locations are as follows:
- On the first island up past the timed box switch for Star 4
- Three of them are on the island with the red coin Star spawn point
- Near the red coin Star spawn point, up in the air next to the note block
- On the wooden roofed platform up past the green sliders
- On the grass just past the aforementioned panel
- Between the two Piranha Plants on the way up to Star 3
Once all of the panels are yellow, they will all simultaneously turn green and be marked with a square. The Star will spawn on the cloud platform near Mario's starting point.
Act 6: Rainbow-Looking Red Coins[]
The red coin locations are as follows:
- At the end of the second green glider
- At the bottom of the rainbow nearest to Mario's starting point. The rainbow road is slippery, so take care and make sure you can climb back up afterwards, as the cloud below doesn't have any collision.
- On top of the wooden roof past the green gliders; it is easily reached by jumping down to it from a higher point. There is also a ! box here containing 10 coins*
- There are two red coins at the tips of one of the Star points, on the Star-shaped island that needs a cannon to reach it
- On top of the tree on the lonely island, requires the cannon to reach it
- Between the two moving/rotating platforms
- On the way up to Star 3
The Star will spawn on the platform surrounded by three of the blue switch platforms from Star 5. To reach it, follow the rainbow road path up past the cannon, while taking care to dodge the pinballs rolling down.
100 Coin Star[]
*See the third red coin for a 10 coin ! box. This course contains at least 135 coins. There is no blue coin switch, but there are a few Piranha Plants around. A Chuckya can be found on an island on the way up to Star 4, but be sure to grab the coins it drops quickly, as it has a tendency to fall off the island and into the void below. Many of the coins in this level can be found on the Star-shaped island, and on the rainbow road spiraling around it, which had a few coin lines on it.
