Mushroom Mountains is the second course in Star Revenge 1.5: Star Takeover Redone. It can be accessed by a warp pipe located in Overworld 1 on the top of a hill. The level is the equivalent of Whomp's Fortress. The Wing Cap Tower is also located in this level.
Layout[]
This course is a set of rocky mountains high in the sky, with village houses and shrooms scattered all over. Mario's starting point is near the bottom of the course, in the midst of a small village. From there, the most obvious route forwards is by platforming across the wooden bridges* directly ahead of his starting point, which will lead him round to the higher village, to the right of Mario's starting point. This village will be referred to as the cannon village, for reasons described below.
This village has two cannons in it; the lower cannon is located near the middle of the village (in terms of height), near the left side, and it requires the Bob-omb Buddy to open it. The upper cannon, which is open by default, is at the top of the village in front of the highest house. This cannon can be used to easily reach the black shroom mountain's lower area.
There are two prominent locations described in the Star guide as being two mountains. Specifically, this refers to the mountain with the black shroom and Star 1, and the mountain next to it, which has the second of the wooden bridges* attached to its side, and the very high, very curvy wooden bridge branching off from it. These two mountains are connected via two parallel paths comprised of shrooms, with one path being above the other. These two mountains will be referred to as the black shroom mountain and the high village mountain respectfully.
To reach the Wing Cap course, use the lower cannon in the cannon village to reach the lower area of the black shroom mountain. Head down the path going into the mountain, but instead, head straight for the cliff edge on the immediate left. Hidden just out of sight is a patch of red and white checkered grass. Standing on it will warp Mario to the top of the very highest mushroom in the course, atop which is a warp pipe leading to the Wing Cap course.

Act 1: Path of the Black Shroom[]
The final stretch to get to the star. Notice the black shroom in the back
From Mario's starting point, head forwards and traverse the wooden bridges ahead, which will lead around to the village area above the starting point. Then, use the lower cannon in this village (referred to as the cannon village) to reach the lower area of the mountain to the left of Mario's starting point (referred to as the black shroom mountain).
Head down the path going into the mountain until it reaches the path of shrooms connecting it to the adjacent mountain (AKA the high village mountain). Jump across the shrooms to the other mountain, and wallkick up between any of the walls here to reach the top of the mountain.
Once up there, head across the other path of shrooms- which is directly above the low one you just crossed- to reach the top of the first mountain you were on. Once up there, travel along the top of the mountain to the higher ledge on the other side, and jump onto the nearby back mushroom. The Star is on top of this shroom.
Act 2: Between The Cannons[]
Head into the cannon village, and over to the lower of the two cannons. Instead of entering it, follow the discreet path leading down the side of the cliff behind the fence. It leads to a small platforming area with a Star. Traverse it slowly, as the ledges and platforms to stand on are all rather small, and Mario bouncing off of a wall wrong could easily knock him off of the course.
Act 3: Over The Windy Bridge[]
The curvy bridge has some lighter patches of wood on some of its edges. When touching these lighter patches, Mario will be buffetted by strong wind. Make your life easier by simply walking around these lighter patches.
Once past the bridge, do not collect the Star yet. Instead, hop down to the top of the blue mushroom on the right and talk to the Bob-omb Buddy there. This lil guy will open up the cannon village's locked cannon. Once done, use the nearby crate to jump back up to the platform with the Star on it. If you have already broken the crate down here (which contains 5 coins), you'll either need to perform a triple-jump and wallkick off of the edge of the upper platform to perform a ledgegrab, or you'll need to use the cannon you just unlocked to shoot back up to the windy bridge or grassy platform.
Act 4: Secret Of The Houseless Mountain[]
This Star is hidden in a secret alcove on the black shroom mountain. When travelling on top of this mountain, you may have noticed that the mountain's inner pathway is partially covered by a rocky roof; the alcove with the Star is under the rocky roof covering the mountain path, near the edge of the roof. The alcove is reachable via a few wallkicks from the pathway below it.
Act 5: Coins Of The Mushrooms[]
This is the red coin mission for this course, and a good opportunity to collect the 80 coin Star too. The red coin locations are as follows:
- Near Mario's starting point; on a lower ledge to the left.
- On the second wooden bridge ahead of Mario's starting point, to the left.
- In the cannon village reached by traversing the low wooden bridges, there is a red coin on top of a purple shroom.
- Behind the highest house in the cannon village, which is right next to the higher cannon.
- On top of a very tall yellow shroom, at the top of the high village mountain.
- Behind the lowest house on the high village mountain.
- On the path of high shrooms connecting the two mountains, there is a red coin on top of a blue shroom nearest the black shroom mountain.
- Near the end of the path leading to the black shroom from Act 1, there is a red coin on top of a narrow cliff edge. It can be reached by jumping to it from the cliff nearest the black shroom.
Once Mario has collected at least 6 red coins, the Star will spawn on the purple shroom behind Mario's starting point.
Act 6: You Know The Deal[]
This Star is one you have likely caught glimpses of while exploring the level; it is located in an alcove on the side of the high village mountain. It can be reached by dropping down onto the balcony of the alcove from any high enough point in the course, but the intended route is to find the discoloured patch of grass next to one of the mountain's village houses. The patch is on the edge of the cliff and coloured red with white splotches, and it marks the point directly above the Star's balcony. Drop down directly from that point to reach the alcove and grab the Star.
80 Coin Star[]
This course has a total of 136 coins. There are quite a few Lakitu's flying around, including at the course's higher points, such as on top of the high village mountain, where there is also a 10-coin ! box on a shroom. Some of the shrooms have coin rings on top of them, including the shroom on the lower path of the black shroom mountain, reachable via the cannon village's higher cannon.
