New Heights 64 is a ROM hack created by usernamesarespiders for scuttlebug_raiser's 3rd Hacking Competition. This hack is a remake of one created by Tomatobird8, and at the time of release, was considered to be a demo.
New Heights 64 Original (Heightmap 64) by tomatobird8 Remade by usernamesarespiders Hack made for scutlebugraiser competition. Four levels are done with final level being unfinished. 30 Stars (26 because 100 coins don't count on Star count due to bug).
Overview[]
This hack is nonstop, meaning that collecting a Star in any of the levels will not warp Mario out of the level. Additionally, fall damage has been removed.
Act Select screens are now bypassed, meaning that only the name of the first Act can be seen. While it is possible to spawn coin Stars in this hack, it contains a bug that will not allow the player to save them to the file. Therefore, the Stars have not been included in the hack's Star count, nor in the table below.
Each course is loosely based off of a real country, albeit with many creative liberties taken. Most notable of these liberties is the Permian Basin Superorganism included in course 3. This is based off of a sci-fi/horror created by Trevor Roberts, called the Mystery Flesh Pit National Park (website, Wikipedia page).
