PKT's Openworld Quest is a ROM hack made by ChiaraSM64. It is an openworld-style hack with four levels sharing the same course ID.

Gameplay[]

The 100 coin Star is not active in this hack. Fall damage has also been disabled, and Mario's lives counter is absent- essentially granting infinite lives. Dying in any of the areas will respawn Mario back to the starting point for the "hub world", as that is the starting point for the entire course.

This hack's 15 Stars are spread out across all four save files. File A has 3 Stars, and Files B, C, and D all have 4 Stars each. This is one red coin mission in this hack, and it can be found in the Lava Cavern.

Areas[]

Levels that are considered separate from the main grassland area have been given unofficial names to differentiate them and describe their appearance.

All of the areas, except for Thank You, are part of course 1. Thank You is a standalone Secret Course.

Area ID Name Stars Requirement Notes
C1 PKT 2 0 Acts as a sort of "hub world". A grassland with giant mushrooms, some colourful non-functional pipes, and some more natural and artificial features.
C1 Sub Area Lava Cavern (Unofficial name) 4 Accessed via a dark cave behind a hill, left-ish of Mario's starting point in the "hub world".
C1 Sub Area Sky World (Unofficial name) 4 Accessed via a cannon at the top of the "hub world". Falling off of any of the islands here will drop Mario back down to the grasslands below, as this area is right above it.
C1 Sub Area Candy Land (Unofficial name) 4 Accessed via an underground portal, beneath the pond in the "hub world".
VC PKT's House 0 Accessed via the house on a floating island in the "hub world". Contains the Vanish Cap Switch.
SC Thank You 1 14 Accessed via the single door in the "hub world" grassland, with a rainbow around it. Contains the final Star and a message from the hack creator alluding to their next project, SM64 Galactic Adventure.
