Phantasmagoria Allegoria is a short hack created by MishuK9 created for the Dream Themed Level Competition, in which it placed 29th.
Plot[]
Mario joins Peach on her yearly visit to the cemetary where her parents are buried, on the anniversary of her parents' death. After finding Peach and gazing at the sky with her, Mario begins to dream.
The Dream, Course 1, is a stage of light platforming ascending a sureal floating world. A Bob-omb Buddy can be found near the beginning and spoken to.
Mario. You don't know me, but I certainly do know you. This place we find ourselves in, it's fantastic, isn't it? In essence, it is a creation of your own mind, a dream that manifests into a sort of representation of your own desires. What I mean to say is, you know what you want, Mario. You want things to change, for Peach. If you can overcome this... prison of your mind, you will have demonstrated the will to enact a change. I'll be waiting for you.
Upon touching the "Star" at the end, Mario will be warped to Course 2: Choices. Here, Mario is faced with two doors and the same Bob-omb Buddy presenting him with the choice of two pathways in life.
You passed the test with flying colours, as I knew you would. Leaping into danger and tackling your own problems with boundless optimism... It's what you do best. But I can tell... You also know that, to truly help Peach, change must come from within. No matter how many times you help her, hings won't change unless she helps herself. You can rescue her from danger as many times as you want, but nothing changes if she cannot protect herself. Before you are two columns representative of the two choices you can make here. You can choose to knock down the icy column of self-doubt in Peach's heart, or you can choose to go back to the rosy lives you've built for yourselves. If you choose to eliminate this self-doubt, it will lead to the betterment of the one you care about, but she may have less of a need for you. If you choose not to eliminate this imperfection of the soul, then everything stays the same. Your wants, your needs, and what's right, are not for me to say. The choice is yours, and yours alone.
Choosing the left door will warp Mario back to his room, in which he questions whether or not his choice had any effect as Peach had unusually opted to travel back to the Castle on her own, rather than being escorted by Mario. This is also where the list of music used in this hack can be read. Choosing the right door will warp Mario to the end screen.
