SM64: Last Imapct has several Easter eggs, secrets, and references throughout the game.
Easter Eggs[]
File Select Enemies[]
If Mario has a game over, some characters will appear in the file select lobby to talk to Mario.[1] These include:
- Bob-omb - "Don't mind me. I'm just the electrician."
- Boo (nearly invisible, near Peach) - "...you can see me? hm... okay. Just don't tell anyone."
- Chuckya - "I'm busy over here. If you want to be thrown around, you'll have to find someone else to do it."[2]
- Goomba - "Did you game over again? Bwahaha, some of us Goombas are fierce!"
This easter egg no longer exists in the most recent update due to game overs being removed.
Too Many Game Overs[]
If the player walks up to a door in the file select, it will give information, including the amount of game overs. If the player experiences a lot, it will just say "Game Overs: Too many"
This easter egg no longer exists in the most recent update due to game overs being removed.
Star Select Messages[]
If Mario waits on the star select screen for several minutes, messages will appear, including:
- Is this choice that hard
- Can you choose today
- Are you still there[3]
Tree Carving[]

The carving is barely visible at the top of the tree.
In Wildlife Valley, near the very top of the giant tree is a tree carving that says "Dimentio x Mimi" inside a heart. Dimentio and Mimi are characters from Super Paper Mario[4].
Exploding Koopa[]
In Sunset Islet, throwing a fireball at Koopa will cause it to explode and release three coins.
Luigi and Pennybags Sprites[]
In Above the Clouds 1, it is possible to to a Backwards Long Jump off one of the pillars to reach the castle far in the background. Going to the side wall will reveal a sprite of Luigi's head, and on the front is a picture of Rich Uncle Pennybags[5].
Hidden Flags[]
In the Hexagon Heat minigame, it is possible to use the momentum of the hexagon platforms to long jump all the way to the edge of the cage. This reveals Toad's flags from Mario Party 2 stuck in the rocks sticking out of the lava.
Koopaling Graffiti[]

"Larry's the best"
In Bowser's Fiery Castle, several walls have graffiti left by the Koopalings. These include:
- Underneath the bridge past the giant staircase - "Larry's the best"
- Behind the cage holding the key - "Morton rules"
Hidden Waddle Doo[]
In Bowser's Fiery Castle, one of the cages high up near the roof on the walls of the castle has a Waddle Doo from the Kirby series.
Calculator Secrets[]

Numbers adding up to 2672
In Gloomy Ambience 1, there are Easter eggs by typing certain numbers in the calculator.
- Typing 5318008 (BOOBIES backwards) will make a Boo laugh sound.
- On the giant notebook, there is a list adding up several different numbers. These numbers are the total number of coins in each level of Super Mario 64, and it adds up to 2672. Typing 2672 in the calculator will cause one coin to appear.
- It is worth noting that the numbers 127 and 192 used for Snowman's Land and Tiny-Huge Island include misplaced "impossible" coins.
Wario Vandalism[]

Wario #1 carving
In Gloomy Ambience 1, long jumping behind the giant notebook and falling off will reveal the words "Wario #1" carved into the desk.
Ghost House Hidden Rooms[]
In Gloomy Ambience 2, there are multiple hidden rooms found by phasing through walls.
- Jumping around the back of the stage will bring Mario to a room that contains the grave of Banjo, from Banjo-Kazooie.
- Jumping into the wall between the two graveyards will make Mario enter a room with a Boo inside who tries to scare Mario by saying there is a skeleton inside of him.
Boo in Window[]

The boo hidden in the alcove
In Dusky Doomed Dale, there is a hidden boo looking out of a window inside one of the houses. It can be reached with a wall jump just underneath the window. The boo says he wants to scare the Toads.
Sunhat Painting[]

The sunhat painting
In Dusky Doomed Dale, there is a hidden painting of a sunhat and blue heart at the very top top of the inside of the church. It is reachable with a precise triple jump and wall kick off the high wooden plank.
Caged Monty Mole[]
In Dusky Doomed Dale, there is a Monty Mole trying to burrow out of its prison cage. It is possible, albeit very difficult to reach by performing a BLJ inside of the mirror cave and navigating it all the way to the mole's prison cell. The mole congratulates Mario on his BLJ.
Frozen Shy Guy[]

The Shy Guy captain
In Melty Molten Mountains, one of the frozen ponds at the top of the ice section has a small shy guy captain frozen inside of it.
Hidden Diary[]

The diary
In Sky-High Islands, there is a hidden diary on top of the cage containing star 6, reachable with precise jumps. The diary reads "...Day 5,110...captivity...micro...think there will never be a sequel... ...huge disappointment...I wish we could go back to nin...".
The Green Gate[]

Behind the green gate
In Above the Clouds 3, climbing to the top of the tall pillar will reveal a sign that says "The button combination to open the green gate is ALBZBALZ". If Mario goes to the green gate in Abandoned Outpost and presses those buttons in that order, the gate will open. Inside it is Gobi the Camel from Banjo-Kazooie. He says he is hiding from "that stalking bear and his bird friend", referring to Banjo and Kazooie.
Cat Ears[]

Mario wearing cat ears
It is possible to jump on top of the Gamble Game Gallery building with a precise triple jump and wall kick. Once on top, there is a Toad that asks Mario if he likes cat ears. Responding "yes" will give mario cat ears on top of his hat.
Cut Out Content[]
Main article: Cut Out Content
On the moon, there is a secret level accessible through an invisible pipe behind Gamble Game Gallery. The pipe is behind a wall, so Mario must clip out of bounds to reach it. There are a few ways to do this:
- Climbing on top of the Colossal Circuits building and performing a BLJ against an invisible ceiling
- Performing a wall jump off of a pillar near the the Colossal Circuits entrance building and diving into the side of the big beast, which Mario will sometimes clip through
- Performing a BLJ against the inside of the big beast's mouth
The level itself consists of a cave where Mario must climb up faster than the rising lava.
Ride Peach[]
In the final boss fight against Rashay, it is possible to perform a BLJ on the edge of the arena to escape and then perform another one to clip back in and enter the cage holding Peach. Jumping on top of Peach will cause Mario to ride her like a Yoshi, including Yoshi's text. Extending "Yoshi's" tongue will cause several models of platforms to appear instead of a tongue.
Kaze himself confirmed this was originally just a glitch and was a result of lazy programming, although he included it in his Easter egg video and considers it as one.
References to other games and media[]
Note: This does not include music, enemies, bosses, or powerups that originally come from other games. Those are all explained in the main article.
