Super Mario 64 Hacks Wiki

SM64 1-1 Grass is a collaborative hack created by MarvMario and MrMarioTendo. It has one secret course called 1-1 Grass with four stars to collect, including a red coin Star.

The lone secret course, 1-1 Grass, is a 2D platformer inspired by the first course of Super Mario Bros. and its successors. The overworld is a valley with warp pipe leading to 1-1 Grass, two 1-UPs to collect, and a Toad acting as a mouth-piece for the hack creators.

Mission Notes

End Star[]

1-1 Grass Star1

This Star is at the very end of the level

This Star is pretty straight-forward: quite literally, as Mario only needs to continue heading right until he reaches the end of the level.

Star In The Sky[]

1-1 Grass Star2

This Star is on the high platforms

Mario needs to follow the same path for the first Star up until he comes out of the mini underground section. At this point, he'll need to jump on the note block that is to the left of the red switch. Use this to jump up and onto the structure on the left, then fall down onto the hidden note block jumper. Keep holding left on the joystick to keep the momentum needed to reach the sky area, and get ready to groundpound once the platform is under Mario so that you don't miss it. Mario will fall in the entrance, as there will be a hidden spring that will launch him off to a small sky section. Once on the sky section, Mario will continue heading left until he finds the Star.

Switch Star[]

1-1 Grass Star3

after pressing the red switch, you can have the Star

Mario will, again, need to follow the same path as the previous times until he comes out of the mini underground section. Then he will need to got to the note block, but instead of jumping on the not block, he will need to press the red switch. Then, Mario must go to the right until he reaches the level's last pit and jump into it. There will be a second path underneath it. The player will need to make sure to fall to the death barrier, as there happens to be a pit right under the pit Mario must fall off. From this point on, just go to the right and Mario will eventually encounter the Star.

Red Coin Star[]

1-1 Grass Star4

After getting the red coins, you can have the Star

Mario must collect the eight red coins scattered across the level. Their locations are as follows:
  1. Right after the first pipe.
  2. On the top of the left wall of the first wall jump section.
  3. Between the stairs and the slope located right after the pit to the lower path.
  4. In the first pipe after the 3rd red coin.
  5. In the first ! box after the 4th red coin.
  6. On the top of the structure which contains the entrance to the mini underground section.
  7. In the ! box at the beginning of the sky section.
  8. On the lower path, all the way to the left, hidden behind the platform the Star spawns on.

The Star will spawn right beside the 8th red coin.
