SM64 Master Quest 2: The Adventure Home (also known as Master Quest 2 for short) is a major ROM Hack made by Cavin856 and released on July 2020. It is the sequel of SM64 Master Quest, a low-effort object edit of the regular game, and the first ever installment of the series to introduce custom levels.

Following the first game, it is another "meme-filled hack with inside jokes and spunk". Master Quest 2 was developed over the course of 4 months, featuring 121 Stars, new levels with fairly low quality control and a vastly irregular difficulty curve. Simply put, as the creator quotes it:

"This hack is mostly idiotic and silly and has an extremely non-existent difficulty curve. Some levels can be super easy, followed by ones that are very difficult. [...] It is not designed to be good or quality. It's designed to exist and maybe give you a laugh. Don't expect serious or competent level design".

The hack was succeeded by Master Quest 2 Two: Best Buy Edition, the sequel and enhanced remaster of its predecessor, as they were both released on the same day in July 2020.

Trivia[]

  • Some doors can be skipped (or clipped) into due to faulty space, which can generate easier sequence breaks. For instance, the house doors in Overworlds 1 and 2 don't have a requirement. Cavin856 may or may not have made a mistake in programming the lock door function.
  • Course 2 IS really a huge blank flat square and filled with nothing but items and objects from the regular game.
  • Finishing the hack can be done with less than its intended star count.
  1. No idea what the song is from, but its in-game track title is called "Continue". Probably corrupted due to a bug for using multiple hacking tools.
  2. The in-game track title is called "K3-Number_10", but is corrupted when it is currently played in the level.
  3. The in-game track title is called "DKRlatin", but is corrupted when it is currently played in the level.
  4. The in-game track title is called "SBKSilverMtC", but is corrupted when it is currently played in the level.
