SM64 Phantasy Reverie is a hack made by HildaIj for the Dream Themed Level Competition, in which it placed 25th. This is a single course hack with the aim to show off a set of custom mechanics involving the Bob-omb's.
Custom Features[]
The new Bob-omb moves are taught to Mario in the Starting area, which functions as a tutorial. When throwing a Bob-omb, it will now travel much further and in a continuous horizontal line. This can be used to activate distant switches. If Mario throws a Bob-omb while jumping, it will launch him much further than normal, allowing him to gain much more height.
In exchange for these new moves, Mario has lost the ability to attack while jumping, complete a triple jump (double jumps still work), and groundpound. Bob-omb's no longer attack Mario, and will continue their idle animation of walking in circles no matter how close he is to them. The timer for their fuse has been removed as well, meaning Mario can hold them for as long as he wants.
Several visual features have also been customised. Bob-omb's are now bright pink, whereas Bob-omb Buddies are now a vibrant cyan. Coins have been retextured to appear as diamonds, although their colours and value remain the same. Mario has also recieved a brand new pair of sick threads to wear, topped with a Pac-Man-esque pin on his hat.
Courses[]
Breezeville Battlefield[]
The only main course in this hack is called Breezeville Battlefield. It is accessed by jumping into the warp pipe in the introduction/tutorial area, which will warp Mario to his own bedroom.
What a crazy dream, huh
half the moveset gone, crazy looking and working Bob-ombs? Thank goodness its over
Right?
After leaving through the door, Mario will be warped to the Starting point for Breezeville Battlefield. There are five Stars to collect here, along with a coin Star. the five Stars are as follows:
- Red coin Star
- A Star up on top of the floating isle
- A Secrets mission
- A platforming mission using Bob-omb's, near where the red coin Star spawns
- TBA
Bonus[]
This is a secret course accessed from a warp point at the bottom of a very steep slope in Breezeville Battlefield; a Bob-omb Buddy standing at its top warns Mario not to venture down there if he is in the middle of "coin shenanigans". This is a vertical platforming level that requires climbing on invisible trees marked with diamond-coins, and using Bob-omb's to make some interesting jumps. The final jump in this level uses a Bob-omb to boost Mario up high enough to lava-bounce up to the Star's platform. The warp back to the main course is activated by jumping into the blue diamond-coin next to the Star.
