SM64: Stars of the Beast 2 (full title: Stars of the Beast 2: The Legend of the Crystal Stars) is a ROM hack created by Milgram355 released on December 2019. It is the sequel of SM64: Stars of the Beast. Unlike its predecessor, it contains 68 Stars, and despite its short length, it is extremely difficult to complete.

The overall levels and visuals takes after the eponymous Ice Cream Vault, where everything is barren and frozen cold but sweet and colorful at the same time, as opposed to the dark and evil atmosphere from the first game. Upon the blizzardry environment, although they are designed to look nice within references to ice cream or sweets, they are made as a trick to kill the player.

Trivia[]

  • Extra Course happens to be Rainbow of the Damned (Course 15) from the first Stars of the Beast. It is flipped upside down and is extremely harder than the original.
  • The lore told by the Toads is referring to Milgram's lifestyle of "being with a significant other that you must love and cherish", similar to the context in Mario saving Princess Peach (as she does not appear) and give her some love as the goal of the game.
