SM64: The Mushroom Cup is a major ROM hack created by usernamesarespiders. This hack contains a total of 130 Stars and over 15 custom levels.
The gameplay is slightly different than the author's previous works, with more focus on platforming and is semi-openworld on exploration. This time, the overall story is being interrupted by incohesive lines dubbed as "REDACTED" over the dialog, as if the writer or reader is affected by the mushroom effect, much like the fortress's surroundings and inhabitants.
The game's title references the first cup in every installment of the Mario Kart series but impossibly does show relevance anywhere, except for the Shrine of the Mushroom stage.
Gameplay[]
In this hack, the player only requires 99 coins to spawn the 100 coin Star. Many of the levels are also interconnected with one another, and some cannot be accessed via a direct warp from the overworld.

"Mario has suddenly found himself within the confined space of a mysteriously confined fortress. Unknown to how, Mario must climb to the top with mysterious levels to escape.

Mario's goal is to solve the mystery behind the strange Solitude Fortress and escape quickly before the mushroom invades him over.
Courses[]
The hack's difficulty curve vary in certain sections but all missions and courses generally offer tough challenges in platforming. Almost all main courses are present in the main fortress, then later courses located in a obscure overworld requiring Stars to access. Fewer courses also share a connection to another stage inbetween.
