Serium's 12-Hour Adventure is a ROM hack made by Serium, with 30 Stars.
Cryo proposed a challenge idea to me to make a hack in a day. So I did. Enjoy my 12 hour long descent into madness as I make levels nonstop, whilst streaming the entire thing to twitch.
As stated in this hack's description on its RHDC page, this hack is the product of the creator being challenged to create a hack in no more than twelve hours by "Cryo" (likely referring to Cryogeon). The process was streamed to Twitch.
Gameplay Changes[]
Each of the four main courses have a 100 coin Star to collect, however, it is now only necessary to collect 80 coins to spawn the coin Star. Similarly, all of the red coin missions for the four main courses only require 6 out of 8 red coins to be collected to spawn the Star. Note that the red coin mission for Bowser in the Dark World still requires all 8 red coins to be collected, as stated by a sign near Mario's starting point in that level.
After defeating Bowser and obtaining the B1 key, Mario can now enter the locked doors on the upper section of the overworld. These doors lead to the second secret course in this hack, which has also retained its original name, The Secret Aquarium.
This course holds one Star and the Bleh Cube, as well as a sign congratulating the player. Collecting the Star will send Mario to the endscreen, which means it will not give the player an opportunity to save its collection, hence why it isn't included in the Star count.
Areas[]
The overworld consists of one large area divided up into two sections; the first section contains the warp to course 1 (a warp pipe to the far left of Mario's starting point), the warp to course 2 (a warp pipe in a large patch of sand to the far right), and the only Star in the overworld. This Star is obtained by climbing the collection of grassy pillars immediately to the right of Mario's starting point, then talking to the Toad up there.
The second section of the overworld is atop the cliffs in the middle of the area, and it is reached by wallkicking up between two walls on the side of the cliff face. The second section contains the warp to course 3 (a warp pipe atop some colourful cubes), the warp to course 4 (the igloo's door), the warp to B1 (door on the platform surrounded by lava), and a set of locked doors requiring the B1 key.
