Shirley - Glittering 70 (Demo) is a ROM hack created by Aeza for the Mario Jams Façade Competition, in which it placed 10th.
Shirley, or Shirley (Bassey) Glittering 70 is a romhack DEMO for the 2023 Hacking jam "FAÇADE". The hack was made in a little under a week and is my first ever decomp project and my second hack over-all. Hack contains no stars and is very linear. Just make it to the end and listen/ see life memorabilia from Welsh singer (Dame) Shirley Bassey.
This hack is a linear walkthrough telling the story and life of Shirley Bassey, who is a Welsh singer most known for singing many of the iconic James Bond themes. Throughout the four areas, the player can read signs, retextured to resemble CRT TVs, that deliver facts about Shirley Bassey's career and personal life.
Gameplay[]
Fall damage and Mario's lives counter have both been disabled, as has the ability to pause the game.
There are no Stars to collect in this hack, although it is possible to spawn a 100 coin Star. Whenever the player falls off a stage, they are respawned at the starting point; the level itself is reset, but the coin count is retained. This means that the player can keep collecting coins from the few enemies around over and over until a coin Star spawns.
