SimpleFlips' Slide Hack Competition (2024) ft. PirateSoftware was a ROM hacking competition hosted by SimpleFlips in early 2024.
This competition challenged creators to make a slide-themed hack. It is the first SM64 ROM hacking competition to have a sponsor, and as such, the prize pool is significantly larger than usual. Due to some confusion surrounding the dates for submissions to be sent in, the duration of this competition was extended.
The sponsor was an independant game studio called Pirate Software, who had their Twitch channel advertised on this competition's official RHDC page.
Pirate Software contributed a total of $10,000 to the prize pool; the way in which this was divided up changed on multiple occasions prior to the results being announced. The information provided in the table below was sourced from this competition's official results spreadsheet.
This competition actually received a total of 95 entries, but devwizard's entry, SM64: The Secret of That Slider, was disqualified. The decision on which submissions would make it to the top ten, and where abouts they would place, was decided by SimpleFlips, the host of the competition, and the sponsor, Pirate Software.
All other placements were decided based on the the ratings and votes from the audience participating in the livestreams held by the host, in which he plays through the submissions for the first time and showcases them for the community.
