Star Revenge 2: (Act 2) Night of Doom (formerly known as Star Revenge: Night of Doom) is a hack made by BroDute and released on July 2013. This hack serves as a sequel to Star Revenge 2: (Act 1) To The Moon, and is a much harder version of Star Revenge 1: Star Takeover (with compiled levels from Redone and To The Moon), made in inspiration by Super Mario 74: Extreme Edition.
Upon its release with the first version, it is often considered to be one of the hardest full Super Mario 64 hacks out there as its popularity grew far due to the insane difficulty. However, due to the release of future extreme hacks at the time, Star Revenge 2: Night of Doom is no longer the most difficult Mario 64 hack according to popular belief. This hack officially debuted the "ice cream" running gag for whenever Mario gets a secret 100-coin Star, although the gag was retrofitted into the later versions and next episodes of the series.
On April 2015, a remake of the hack, Star Revenge 2.5: Remnant of Doom, was released. It was made to signficantly tone down the difficulty over the original, although it kept the extreme hack basis as very hard.
On September 22, 2018 until April 2020, this hack was re-released with semi-updates in response to the backlash about the extreme hack controversy and design issues. It continued to be "memed on" with particular changes across versions 1.1 and 1.3 (as 1.2 is the final update). Despite BroDute claiming it not being up to par with the main timeline of the series, it was widely respected with mixed reviews.
