Star Revenge 4.5: The Kedama Takeoven Rewritten is a ROM hack made by BroDute. Released in 2016, it is a remake of Star Revenge 4: The Kedama Takeover, and the third select episode to be remastered in the series after Star Revenge 1.5 and Star Revenge 2.5.
This hack is then succeeded by its sequel, Star Revenge 4.9: Adulterated Reality, released on August 2022 as the hard version/extension.
Story[]
While Mario had his trip to An Saoire, white creatures called Kedamas took over the Mushroom Kingdom and stole the Stars of Peach's Castle and kidnapped the princess as well.
This hack takes place in the Muskroom Kingdom, and uses Peach's Castle as the hub world.
Gameplay[]

This hack uses a more unique approach to powerups- rather than having the Vanish Cap, Metal Cap and Wing Cap require activation, they can instead be rarely obtain from item boxes in areas where they are specifically needed. In their stead, Mario uses the Cap Switches to unlock rideable Koopa shells and the cannon for each level.
In regards to the cannon, the associated Cap Switch, which is blue, will make all corresponding item boxes solid. When struck, the item boxes will drop a Bob-omb Buddy NPC that can unlock the cannon.
This hack also takes on a different approach to navigating between areas. From the hub world, which is Peach's Castle and the Castle Grounds, Mario can only access a very limited number of courses, which is C1, C6, C11, C15 and some of the boss stages. The remaining courses must be travelled to be journeying through the courses and finding a path leading to them. For example, to reach course 4, Mario can enter course 1 from the Castle Grounds, travel to course 2 through one of the gateways located in course 1, then find the gateway leading to course 4 that is located in course 2.
Rather than each course having the seven Stars each, some courses have less. For these courses, once all Stars have been acquired, the next Act will still be available to play on, but will be name "---" to signify that there is no Star for it. Fall damage is disabled in the latest version released. Furthermore, coin Stars only require 80 coins to be collected, rather than the usual 100, and only 6 out of 8 red coins are needed to spawn the corresponding red coin Star.

Trivia[]
- BroDute provides a cheat code to the player to display a fake in-game map, but obviously, it's a prank. Enabling this cheat code will cause Mario to die instantly.
- In the end credits cutscene, a secret Illuminati appears floating in the sky. It can be easily noticed as well by looking from the castle rooftop. This inside joke is related to the Illuminati nonsense, that was added previously in Star Revenge 1.5: Star Takeover Redone with the X-Files theme.
