Star Revenge 4: The Kedama Takeover 64 is a ROM Hack made by BroDute and it's the fourth entry in the Star Revenge series of hacks. It was released on March 3rd, 2014 and has 97 stars.
Like Star Revenge 3: Mario on an Saoire, it is an openworld hack, meaning all of the levels are connected, rather than being accessed through paintings or other means.
On September 23, 2016, this hack got rewritten version called Star Revenge 4.5: The Kedama Takeover Rewritten.
Plot
After Mario returns to the Mushroom Kingdom from his holiday on An Saoire, he finds the Kingdom to be overrun by new creatures called "Kedamas". So Mario, understanding that the Kedamas are a threat to the Mushroom Kingdom, since they are wreaking havoc, goes to stop them and their leader.
Changes
This hack hacks many changes from the vanilla game. This list details them.
- Cap Switches are now in their own separate ROMs, which are in passworded folders. This is because BroDute had a problem with the base game's ROM regarding the cap switches, so he uses separate ROMs (using the same header for all ROMs) to transfer save data between them.
- Cap Switches are no longer cap switches. The Cap Switches have been changed to Pink, Purple and Yellow. Pink blocks present a Bob-Omb which opens a cannon somewhere in a level, Purple blocks give you a star and yellow blocks give you a koopa shell.
- Goombas move faster.
- Fire no longer homes at you when it is shot out of one of those fire spitting balls.
Changes in 1.1
- 1.1 now starts with 50 lives while 1.0 only starts with 10.
