Super Birdo 64 is a hack made by MrHovs that completely replaces Mario with Birdo. It has been released with custom artwork created by CorruptedUnicorn.

Changes[]

  • Mario's model has been completely replaced with a new model created by the hack author.
  • Some of Mario's animations have been swapped out for new custom animations that are more characteristic of Birdo. This includes the Star dance, and the victory exit animation.
  • The sound effects for Mario's voice and various wails have been replaced. For this, the creator used sound effects from more recent Nintendo titles that feature Birdo as a character.
  • Power-ups are no longer varieties of Cap, but are now varieties of bows to reflect Birdo's characteristic red bow she wears.
  • Pressing the L button will toggle the attack mode. In the upper left corner of the UI under the lives counter is an egg counter, that will by default be at 5. This will display which attack mode Birdo is in. When the egg sprite is X'd out, the attack mode is default, and identical to vanilla SM64. When the attack mode is toggled and the egg sprite is no longer X'd out, pressing B will instead launch an egg in the direction Birdo is facing. This egg attack can be used to take out enemies that would otherwise be out of reach, break blocks, and so on.

Trivia[]

  • This hack was made as a gift for the creator's girlfriend, whose favourite Super Mario character is Birdo.
