Super Mario 64: Twisted Adventures is a ROM hack made by SomeRussianMarioDude. It was released in Fall 2012 and contains 151 Stars.
This hack was made in regard of Super Mario 74's fame which most of the aesthetics and level ideas are based on. However, it was criticized for being a knock off hack or being lackluster with its concepts and visuals.
LinCrash, who has worked on preservation updates before, has released two versions: one in 2016 featuring fixed warps, visible secrets and a parallel cam, then a recent version in 2024 which completes the hack with newer QoL changes such as extra fixed warps, non-stop Stars, 6/8 reds, etc.
In 2014, the infamous kaizo counterpart, Twisted Adventures: Intense Challenge, was released as a demo, then revived into a full-length major hack by Tomatobird8 in 2019.
Plot[]
Bowser has once again kidnapped the Princess and Mario has to save her. But Bowser has one trick up his sleeves, he challenges Mario to deal with his twisted levels before he can stop him for good.
