Super Mario 64 Hacks Wiki

Super Mario 66 is a ROM hack created by Jecket.

Super Mario 66 is what was once an extremely eager attempt at making an "awesome" and moderately difficult hack way back in 2016. With the little knowledge I had at the time, and for that matter no game-design and storymaking skill, it turned out just as odd as a hack could be. Young me couldn't do much but force in ideas that didn't work out or are straight up absurd. With that said, there are several areas that are left intentionally buggy and some that could crash the game.
A remake is on its way, projected to be released before 2030. I'm giving myself that much time to work on gathering the skills, knowledge and love that for a rom hack named "Super Mario 66" could have (...and working on other small projects along the side).
Additional credits to Crash for the "C-3" level - which I disrespectfully ripped from the Sketchup Workshop, and a huge shoutout to Paudink for the hub design they kindly made me on request. I really wish I could've paid them for that.

Broken Warps[]

As is often the case in incomplete hacks, the overworld has a number of features that were clearly intended to be warp points, but did not see completion:

  • On the opposite side of the overworld to C1's warp pipe, there is a house with two doors in its front and a warp pipe behind it:
    • Of the two doors, the right one (with a W next to it) but will crash the game upon entering it.
    • The warp pipe behind the house has no warp in it, only a small pool of lava. Note that it is difficult to reach due to invisible walls blocking off the area behind the house, but it is possible to reach it by going over the roof.
  • Inside one of the water puddles is a small hole just big enough for Mario to float into; activating this warp will crash the game.
  • Inside of the house with the 3 Star door (leading to C3), there is inexplicably a warp pipe between the walls. Activating this warp will send Mario somewhere, but he instantly dies, and the game will crash rather than respawn him.
