Mario: Escape from the Jail (full title: Ztar Attack 0.5 - Mario: Escape from the Jail) is a ROM hack made by TheGael95 and released on August 22, 2016.
It is the first game of the Ztar Attack series, setting itself as a prequel to the main game; it contains five main courses and nine side courses to explore. On February 2022, Mario: Escape from the Jail - Definitive Edition, a remastered version of this hack, was released and created by aglab2.
Plot[]
One day, Mario wakes up in a dark room... turns out he was captured and sent to an abandoned jail for years! Now he must find a way to escape and find out who is behind it! But will he be able to make it alive in this troublesome moment when the Mushroom Kingdom is under attack? Join Mario in this epic journey as he explores new worlds and discover mysterious secrets that lies within the prison.
